Do you know the advantages and disadvantages of compression molding?
1.Advantage
The advantage of compression molding is that the equipment cost is low and it is suitable for mass production, thus effectively reducing manufacturing costs. This process is suitable for silicone products with parting line burrs less than about 0.25mm, especially in products with low appearance requirements and low precision requirements. The molded finished product usually only needs simple edge trimming and does not require excessive subsequent processing. In addition, the compression molding equipment does not have a pouring port and a runner system, which reduces the waste of raw materials.
2.Disadvantage
Due to the mold structure, compression molding has certain difficulties in ensuring that the raw materials are completely filled into all corners of the mold cavity. If the operation is not skilled, the silicone rubber products after demoulding are prone to shortage of materials. Therefore, this process has high requirements on the professionalism and experience of technical personnel. In addition, the mold design of hot press molding is more suitable for simple and uncomplex structure silicone rubber products. If the product design contains a large number of small holes, side features or requires high dimensional accuracy, the injection molding process is more recommended.
Therefore, we can use compression mold in low precision, low cost and mass production
